The Mac mini (M5 Pro)draws very little power. It draws less than 10 watts when
idling, but can pull up to 155 watts when working hard.
Previous versions with the M4 would consume a maximum of 65 watts, so be careful
when looking at UPS recommendations based on that mac mini version.
I was surprised to learn that most damage to computers is not due to voltage spikes, but due to "sags" in the line voltage. A feature called AVR (automatic voltage regulation) copes with this and is vital. Beware of supplies from APC. They have dropped AVR (no doubt a cost saving move) on many of their mid-price units.

The "PFC" units yields a pure sine wave, which is important for more modern computers with PFC power supplies. PFC stands for "power factor correction", and yields a more efficient power supply. A 1200 VA ups will provide 720W (ok for load up to 550W)
A 1500 VA ups will provide 900W
A gaming PC with a 750 watt PSU will pull 350 to 500 watts during heavy use. A 1500 VA ups would provide a good amount of extra overhead.
I'll note that I am not terribly concerned about a UPS that will support "heavy use". I just want to be confident about leaving my system plugged in during lightning storms.
